Opioid abuse and addiction are increasingly and relentlessly ravaging the American public, a battle whose toll leaves too many people paying the ultimate price—their life. One American dies every fifteen minutes in the United States from an opioid overdose, resulting in almost half of all drug overdose deaths in America involving a prescription opioid. Addressing the opioid epidemic with a monolithic approach stunts positive change.
The Younger Comparativists Committee (YCC) of the American Society of Comparative Law (ASCL) is pleased to invite submissions for its fourth workshop on comparative business and financial law to be held on February 2-3, 2018 at the Fordham University School of Law in New York City. The purpose of the workshop is to highlight, develop, and promote the scholarship of new and younger comparativists in accounting, banking, bankruptcy, corporations, commercial law, economics, finance, and securities.

The Dispute Resolution Interest Group (DRIG) of the American Society of International Law (ASIL) and the Lewis & Clark Law School are pleased to announce a workshop to discuss academic works-in-progress on international dispute resolution. The purpose of the workshop is to help authors develop draft articles for publication, so authors will be required to submit a working draft before the workshop takes place.
Gender on the International Bench
Currently women judges make up on average 17% of international courts and tribunals, demonstrating significant disparity regarding the participation of women on the bench across different international legal regimes. Such lack of representativeness can affect the legitimacy of the international dispute settlement process and its outcomes.
